Columbus Day Dinner

To celebrate the Columbus Day holiday Honoring Christopher Columbus, La Societa' Italiana plans a dinner at a local Italian restaurant to honor the man from Italy who is credited with discovering the Americas. Traditional food and wine is served and members enjoy an evening with fellow Italians around the table.

Annual Christmas Party

At Christmas time, the current president invites all members to say Buon Natale. Surrounded by festive décor and ambiance, club members indulge in deliciously prepared traditional Italian food and wine. All are encouraged to prepare a special dish or dessert that is a Christmas favorite.

La Befana

An Italian folk tale says that Befana, a woman of stern nature and forbidding appearance, was asked by the Wise Men for directions to Bethlehem. They explained to her their mission and asked her to accompany them, but she declined because of her household duties.

Carnevale

This premiere event of the year and special charity fund raiser is the society’s Mardi Gras celebration. It is held the week-end prior to Ash Wednesday at a luxurious country club with orchestra, sit-down dinner, dancing, and a glamorous or funny mask parade contest. Prizes abound and a raffle drawing for the ultimate prize is excitedly anticipated. A crowned king and queen reign over the festivities.
