One of La Societa’ Italiana, Inc. founding principles when it was founded in September of 1986 was the support of a worthy charitable organization within our community. This would be accomplished through fund raising and as well as hands on volunteer activities for the selected charitable organization. As stated in the “Purpose” of the Society “According to the Articles of Incorporation, its purpose is to bring together people interested in fellowship, socializing, charitable and civic enhancement and good citizenship”. Over the years the Society has supported a number of charitable organizations including Special Olympics Georgia, Atlanta's Festival of Trees, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. This past year the Society has provided volunteers for the Special Olympics Georgia bocce competition and conducted a fundraiser to benefit Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home.

Dawsonville LSI members, Sam Catanzano and Ron Bennetti, became involved five years ago with the Dawson County Special Olympics when the Coordinator asked them for help with a Bocce Venue. Since then Sam has been responsible for the training and coaching of the athletes while Ron has been the Head Referee at the games during the competition. From that beginning many other LSI members and their wives have been involved with the Bocce Venue.
La Società Italiana is proud to support Special Olympics Georgia, one of the charities that our organization supports.
Our support has been recognized with two letters from Special Olympics Georgia.
Our financial and volunteer support for construction of bocce courts at the Roswell, Georgia, Adult Recreation Center was reported in the articles "Bocce Challenge" and "Roswell Opens Bocce Court" in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
