In fourteen hundred ninety-two Columbus sailed the ocean blue……..and discovered America!  What a good reason for La Società Italiana to gather and celebrate!

And celebrate we did with plenty of delicious food, wine and a good time.  Zucca Bar and Pizzeria provided a splendid array of antipasti, fried calamari, veal, chicken, pasta, eggplant parmesan and wonderful desserts.  There were 54 members and guests in attendance.  If you missed this celebration, be sure to attend next year!

A silent auction was held with the following contributions:  A wine making starter kit donated by Craig Cook from My Brew Heaven in Gainesville, two 1.5 liter bottles of home made wine by Ron Bennetti, three necklaces hand made in Pakistan from Mickey and Barbara Vergara, a $100 dinner certificate for two from Michele Santa Maria to a Stoney River Restaurant, and a basket of Italian food including home made wine from George and Marge DeBenedetto.

President, Bert Emma, presented Danny Arturo, chef and manager of Zucca’s, with a framed certificate of appreciation and JoAnn DePace received one for Golden Jet Travel’s contributions to the club.

Special thanks go to JoAnn DePace and Diana Hickson for all of their help.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed to a really fine evening.
