Once again, the major fund raiser and social event for the year turned out to be a spectacular event.
Carnevale 2008, held at the prestigious Druid Hills Golf Club on February 2, attracted 203 members and guests. The elegant atmosphere of the club, good food and great music made for a fantastic event. Marge DeBenedetto and Bert Emma played the piano during the cocktail hour adding to this festive affair.
There were some outstanding masks in the competition and the selection of the best had to be difficult. King and Queen Ron and Deanna Bennetti chose the following:
Best overall mask Luanne and Paul Samson (identical masks)
Best female mask Janet DiBenedetto
Best male mask Sterling Shuttleworth
Peggy Diaz, as usual, did a super job of overseeing the sale of raffle tickets. The profits will go to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. Final figures will be announced later.
Winners of the Round Trip Business Class Tickets on AirTran Airways were:
First Prize (ten tickets) - Ray Bruttomesso from Sacred Heart Church
Second Prize (six tickets) Mike Tetrik from Mary our Queen Church
Third Prize (four tickets) Wayne Grovner form All Saints Church
King and Queen Ron and Deanna completed their reign and crowned this years royalty, King and Queen Joe and Mary Costa.
The committee, chaired by Bob and Becky Fratesi, did an excellent job of bringing everything together, resulting in an outstanding Carnevale 2008. Thanks Bob, Becky and committee.
