@ Roswell Senior Center

On May 30th, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening and successful completion of the first Bocce Court in Roswell at the Adult Recreation Center. The Bocce Court was donated by La Societa Italiana, Inc., an organization whose member’s purpose is to bring together people interested in fellowship, socializing, charitable and civic enhancement. The ribbon-cutting event was attended by Mayor Jere Wood, Joe DiBenedetto President of the La Societa Italiana club, Joe Glover Director of Recreation & Parks, Mary Rummel Adult Recreation Center coordinator l, and Supervisor Kiran Fatania.

The ribbon cutting event was kicked off by Mayor Jere Wood, Joe and Roseanne Dibenedetto, George and Marge DeBenedetto, Burt Emma, and Denny Holmes. Father Joe Aquino blessed the bocce court before the ribbon cutting ceremony. Later Mayor Wood and the staff of Roswell’s Adult Recreation Center were introduced to the game of bocce ball playing against La Societa Italiana members. Also attending the ribbon cutting event was Mickey and Barbara Vergara, Charles and Beverly Blake, Denny and
Sharyn Holmes.

One of La Societa’ Italiana, Inc. founding principles when it was founded in September of 1986 was the support of a worthy charitable organization within our community. Over the years the Society has supported a number of charitable organizations including Special Olympics Georgia, Atlanta's Festival of Trees, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. This past year the Society has provided volunteers for the Special Olympics Georgia bocce competition and conducted a fundraiser to benefit Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home.
